Privacy Policy

Wordsnap is made by Appstract Studio. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and who else sees it. It covers the Wordsnap iOS app and playwordsnap.com.
What we collect

How your photos are handled
Recognition runs on your phone. The app carries its own model and works out what the object is without sending anything anywhere. The photo is then uploaded so we can verify the snap server-side — this is what stops people photographing a screen or reusing someone else's picture — and so it can be stored in your scrapbook and shown on your profile.
Your scrapbook is public by default so friends can browse what you have collected. You can make it private in Settings, and you can delete your account, which deletes your photos with it.
Advertising
Free accounts see ads between rounds, served by Google AdMob. On first launch iOS asks whether you allow Wordsnap to track you across other companies' apps and websites. If you say no — or never answer — you still see ads, but they are non-personalised and your advertising identifier is not used to profile you. If you say yes, Google may use that identifier to personalise them. You can change your mind at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. Wordsnap Pro removes ads entirely.

Who else processes your data
- Railway — hosts the servers and the database.
- Cloudflare R2 — stores your photos and stickers.
- RevenueCat — manages subscription status on our behalf.
- Google AdMob — serves ads to free accounts.
- Apple and Google — if you use their sign-in, they tell us the account identifier and the email you chose to share.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone beyond the processors above.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your account and its contents while your account exists. Settings › Delete account removes your profile, your snaps, your photos and your scrapbook. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. If you have a subscription, cancel it separately in your Apple ID settings — deleting the account does not cancel Apple billing.
You can ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct it, by writing to hello@appstract.studio.
Children
Wordsnap is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect.
